Where the East End’s people-watching actually happens. Models, scouts, celebrities, the trade press, the social set. We don’t sell access; we point you at the door. Some of these are quiet luxury, some are loud Friday-night chaos. Both have their place.
If you’re here because you want to see hot people: pool day at Gurney’s, Saturday lunch at Sant Ambroeus, Sunday polo at Two Trees Farm. That’s the canonical order. Everything else is supporting material.
Saturday brunch

The cappuccino-and-sandal table of the Hamptons — Milanese service, the longest wait-list on Main Street, and the quiet-luxury uniform on full display. The terrace is the scene; the interior is where the regulars are parked.
Peak: Saturday 1-3pm
A farmhouse inn on the Bridgehampton monument with a Jean-Georges kitchen. Brunch is where the publishers and producers congregate before the beach. You will not see the loud crowd here and that is exactly the point.
Peak: Saturday 11am-2pm
The Upper East Side transplant on Long Wharf. Loud, Francophile, and run on a strict regular-first door policy — the Cajun chicken is famous and the people-watching is at eye level the whole afternoon. Come early or be a regular.
Peak: Saturday 1-4pm
Mykonos cosplay planted on Montauk Highway — grilled fish on platters, white wine at volume, and a DJ who shows up around 2pm. Brunch runs long here and pours straight into the dinner service. Dress for daylight.
Peak: Saturday noon-3pm
The garden at Sì Sì is the East End version of the Amalfi Coast — linen napkins, crudo, and the neighborhood's entire editorial crowd under the olive trees. A hard reservation, and worth the effort exactly once a season.

Pool day

The only true on-the-sand resort in the Hamptons and the loudest pool deck east of Flushing. Day passes exist but sell out; staying over is the real way in. Worth it once, especially if your definition of a good time includes a DJ at 3pm.

Tiny rooms, a tiny pool, and a concert deck on Fort Pond that functions as the single loudest summer venue on the East End. The sunset deck is the most-photographed and most expensive way to watch the sun go down — worth it once.

The quieter, design-forward sister to the rowdier Montauk hotels — linen cabanas on the Ditch Plains side, a pool that reads more Tulum than Montauk, and guests who actually want to read a book. Not the scene; the anti-scene.

A former fish dock converted into a sunset picnic deck with lobster rolls and a rosé list longer than the wait. The view is the whole point. No reservations — you queue on the lawn — which keeps it honest.

The old sanatorium turned boutique — a quieter Montauk option with a pool, an underrated restaurant, and none of the Surf Lodge circus. Stays popular with returning guests precisely because it is not on a press list.

André Balazs's St-Tropez-in-the-Peconic. You take a ferry, you eat a salade niçoise on the deck, you watch the sun set over Crescent Beach, you drive to Montauk tomorrow. Polished, loud at the right hour, easy to leave.

The bar that refuses to grow up — a 150-capacity live room where Paul McCartney has walked in more than once and the cover band on a rainy Thursday is just as good. The single best shot at running into a real musician out east.

The one immortalized by the Rolling Stones in 1976 and still a cash-only dive with a pool table. This is the late-night spot for people who are tired of being photographed at Surf Lodge. The opposite of a scene, which is its own scene.
Peak: Saturday 11pm-2am
A summer-camp-themed hotel with the Magic Garden bar out back — string lights, picnic tables, a DJ in the pines. Loud, young, a little chaotic, and the one place that still produces an end-of-summer memory you will actually remember.
Peak: Friday and Saturday 10pm-1am
Polo Sundays

Two Trees Farm on a Sunday afternoon is the entire weekly social peak of the summer — wedges of brie, chilled rosé, and the crowd that skips the beach for the scoreboard. General admission is genuinely open; VIP is where the known people sit.

Hampton Classic week
The last weekend of August is the Hampton Classic horse show in Bridgehampton and every scene-adjacent venue on this page runs a side party through the week. Grand Prix Sunday is the peak. Treat it as a full social week, not a day trip. See the social calendar for the full week’s schedule.
Galas & benefits
The Watermill Center benefit, Parrish Midsummer, Guild Hall Summer Gala, and Authors Night are the four black-tie nights that draw the city social set out east. Tickets are public. The full schedule lives on the galas page, cross-linked to the social calendar.
